Aster launches Pink Parking to mark World Patient Safety Day

Aster DM Healthcare conducted a series of awareness activities to mark World Safety Day and 7th Qatar Patient Safety Week.

The theme selected for the year 2021 is “Safe maternal and newborn care” due to the significant burden of risks and harm, women and newborns are exposed to when receiving unsafe care particularly during childbirth.
On the occasion, Aster Hospital launched 'Pink Parking' a unique concept to reserve dedicated parking slots near the hospital entrance for expectant mothers. The official launch of Pink Parking slots was jointly done by David Boucher, group chief of service excellence, Aster DM Healthcare; Dr Manoj K Mohan, consultant and head of the department of obstetrics and gynaecology ( OBGyn); Dr Hema Rajeev, specialist- OBGyn and Dr Nousheen Mir, specialist- OBGyn in the presence of, Kapil Chib, chief operating officer, Aster DMH Qatar; Dr Mahesh Patel, head of Quality Assurance, Sumeet Batra, head of marketing, Regina Pinto, head of nursing service and other officials.
To support the global campaign, Aster Hospital in Doha and all Aster Medical Centres were lit up in orange colour. Also, other activities were conducted to promote patient safety among caregivers and an online health awareness session was organised for expectant mothers on “Safe maternal and newborn care”.
Dr Rajeev said, this years’ theme is very relevant as many of the expectant mothers are getting stressed by the Covid-19 and related threats. Dr Mohan noted: " Most harm to mothers and newborns is preventable through the provision of safe and quality care by skilled healthcare professionals working in supportive environments.”
